Previously, according to the requirements of the regulatory authorities, POS machines operated by individual industrial and commercial households did not accept credit cards if they used personal bank settlement accounts as acquiring bank settlement accounts. However, on July 10, the Administrative Measures for Bank Card Acquisition issued by the Central Bank cancelled the controversial provision that "individual merchants are prohibited from swiping credit cards" in the draft for comments. However, the reporter learned from yesterday's investigation that many large banks in the province have not released the acceptance ban on self-operated POS machines because of their vigilance against risk management and control such as cashing.
Yesterday, the reporter consulted Guangzhou 15 banks as customers. Among them, China Construction Bank, Bank of Communications, China Merchants Bank, China Everbright Bank, Minsheng Bank, Ping An Bank, China CITIC Bank, Industrial Bank and Guangfa Bank all said that it is "no problem" for individual industrial and commercial households to use personal accounts as POS machines to swipe credit cards in the settlement accounts of acquiring banks.
