Historical background
The Koenigsegg project started on 1994. Koenigsegg, the founder, was originally a veteran of Swedish racing engineering, because he has been holding a strong dream and belief in building a top super sports car for many years.
As a result, he gathered a small group of local top engineers in Sweden, contacted some existing Swedish racing parts suppliers and related academic units, and set up a very small car factory. The core idea of the plan is to develop a hard-top sports car with a mid-engine and pure two-seater. The technical concept is similar to that of Formula One racing.
Koenigsegg's first prototype production car was tested in the spring and summer of 2000, so as to be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show held on September 28th of the same year. At the same time that the new car was exhibited for the first time, the production line needed for mass production of the new car began to be planned and organized.
As expected, the silver KoenigseggCC was very popular at the Paris Motor Show, and was later selected as the car of the year by the local Swedish automobile magazine.
