In June 2006, Zhou Yongtang donated 1 million yuan to establish the "Zhou Yongtang Loan Student Fund", which is specifically used to support Xiamen University students whose families have financial difficulties, and does not require repayment.

After Zhou Yongtang's death, the school of Xiamen University announced that Mr. Zhou had set up a student loan fund for Xiamen University and had continuously supported Xiamen University students for 15 years. A total of 2,270 students had been funded, and a total of 8.11 million yuan had been distributed.
