At that time, because of government corruption, foreign invasion and social unrest, the people were in dire straits. Elder Ben Huan was deeply influenced by the impermanence of the world and gradually became refined. Hoonji, who often goes to Cangzibu, listens to the preaching of the sage and the old mage, devotes himself to Buddhism and is determined to pursue the true meaning of life.

◆ 1934, the elder Ben Huan participated in the Eight Zen Seven, and then played five life and death seven and ninety-one days in a row. He sat still and thought hard. In order to prevent the order from being reversed, he imitated the ancient method of "hanging a beam over his head", put a rope on his chin and tied the other end to the beam, practiced meditation, won the praise of the old monk, and became the youngest deacon in Gaomin Temple.

◆ 1937 65438+ 10, Elder Ben Huan made a vow to attend the Manjusri Bodhisattva Dojo in Wutai Mountain, Shanxi Province. It is more than 300 kilometers from Yangzhou to Dingxian County, Hebei Province, and from Dingxian County to the foot of Wutai Mountain by train. He insisted on three steps and one worship, regardless of the wind and rain, walking three miles every day and reaching Wutai Mountain in four and a half months. Then climb to the top of the five platforms in three steps and one worship, with a journey of more than 400 miles. For more than three months, his feet were swollen and his knees were covered with thick cocoons, but his heart was full of joy. Later, he settled in Bishan Temple in Wutai Mountain to practice.

◆1On April 8th, 939, 32-year-old monk Ben Huan, together with other disciples, such as Shouye, Fa Du, Yin Xiu and Jingru, accepted the glorious teachings of the old monk, inherited the teachings of Lin Ji and continued his Buddhist life. This year, I served as the supervisor of Bishan Temple and managed the temple affairs.

◆ 194 1 year, Wutai Mountain was the anti-Japanese guerrilla zone of the Eighth Route Army during War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression's period. Ben Huan, an old monk, firmly supports the anti-Japanese policy of saving the country and the people and the anti-Japanese activities of the Eighth Route Army. On one occasion, a battalion commander of the Eighth Route Army was pursued by the Japanese army while performing his duties. The situation is very urgent. Ben Huan, an old monk, decisively hid the battalion commander in the temple, deftly supported the Japanese army regardless of his own life safety, and was praised by the Eighth Route Army afterwards.

At this time, he pricked his tongue with blood, and copied Shurangama Sutra 10, Tibetan Sutra 3, Pu Xian's Wish 19 successively, with more than 200,000 words of blood sutra. Up to now, a 5952-word "The Last Wish of Generous and Wide Buddha and Huayan Pujingxian Bodhisattva" has been preserved to this day and is regarded as a daily class. Although I am four years old, I still insist on reading it several times every night, which is admirable.

◆1March, 947, in order to protect the existing precious cultural relic of Wutai Mountain-Huayan Jingzi Pagoda, Elder Ben Huan left Bishan Temple after years of penance in Wutai Mountain 10, and sent Huayan Jingzi Pagoda to the lower house of Shanghai Bishan Temple via Beijing and Tianjin, and gave it to Shouye and Fadu for safekeeping.

◆ 1948 65438+ 10, an old man from Benhuan returned to Hongji, Xinzhou, Hubei Province from Shanghai because his mother was critically ill. On the one hand, I waited on my mother's soup and medicine, on the other hand, I put 100 sets of flame ports in Hongji to eliminate disasters and prolong my life for my mother. After the mother died, a mourning hall was set up beside the grave, burning the arm as a candle, reciting the Sakyamuni Sutra day and night, and observing filial piety for 49 days.

◆1In July, 948, Elder Ben Huan came to Nanhua Temple in Shaoguan, Guangdong at the invitation of Xu Yun, an old monk in modern China. Nanhua Temple is the Dojo where the sixth ancestor Huineng promoted the "Nanzong Zen Method", which is called "Zuting". Elder Ben Huan inherited Xu Yunzong and became the 44th generation descendant of Lin Jizong. The old monk Xu Yun changed "Ben Huan" to "Ben Huan".

◆1April 8, 949, Elder Ben Huan was promoted to the abbot of Nanhua Temple. At that time 1 1 year-old monk Xu Yun came from yunmen temple on foot to sit on the ground.

◆1In July, 958, Elder Ben Huan was unjustly imprisoned, which saved him from the catastrophe of the "Cultural Revolution", but he still persisted in practicing in prison. For example, Lingnan, the master of Hanshan Mountain, was demoted. Although the cassock has been removed, the Zen mind has not diminished, which is a model for practitioners.

◆1in March, 980, after the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee of the Party, Elder Ben Huan was completely rehabilitated, and finally bid farewell to the prison and returned to the mountain gate. At this point, the elder Ben Huan is 73 years old.

◆ 1980, Renhua County Government invited Elder Ben Huan to repair Biechuan Temple in Danxia Mountain of this county. Biechuan Temple was founded in the late Ming Dynasty (1663), flourished in the early Qing Dynasty and was destroyed in the Republic of China. When Elder Ben Huan came to Danxia Mountain, he couldn't help crying in the face of ruins, with the Buddha statue destroyed and the famous temple abandoned. Elder Ben Huan devoted a lot of effort and energy to the restoration of Guangxiao Temple. After 10 years' efforts, Guangxiao Temple has been restored and rebuilt into a famous Buddhist temple.

Although it was repaired several times, it was still destroyed in the late Qing Dynasty. Today, there are only four ancestral halls and several ancient cypresses. With the support of governments at all levels and the help of people from all walks of life, Zhengjue Temple was rebuilt. 1995 and 12 were started and ended in June 2000. In just over four years, the construction area of the temple is about 13000 square meters, and the construction cost is more than 45 million yuan. Elder Ben Huan attaches great importance to spreading China Buddhist culture to overseas believers, and has visited many countries and regions in Europe, America and Southeast Asia for more than ten years:
