Hunan University ranks in the top 50. The school has more than 37,000 full-time students, including more than 20,000 undergraduates and 0/5,000 postgraduates. There are more than 4,000 faculty members, including 2,250 full-time teachers, 2 academicians/KLOC-0, 5 members of the discipline evaluation group of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee and 56 national special talents.

The school also has the Innovative Talents Promotion Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology 14 and the Outstanding Talents Support Program of the Ministry of Education in the New Century 134.
