Ministry of Foreign Affairs Street has a long history and rich historical relics. It is also one of the relatively well-preserved hutongs in Beijing. Some important buildings distributed in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Street are: the former site of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in People's Republic of China (PRC), the Ruiqin Palace, the Tibetan Classics Museum, the villa of Union Medical College Hospital, and the Tongsheng Hall.
The former site of People's Republic of China (PRC) Foreign Ministry is located at No.33 Foreign Ministry Street. It used to be the residence of Shi Heng, a powerful minister in the Ming Dynasty. After the change of Civil Fort, Shi Heng launched the change of seizing the door, and Ming Yingzong was restored. Thanks to his recovery, Shi Heng was also granted the loyalty to God and got a residence in today's Foreign Ministry Street. Shi Heng was proud of his service and built a magnificent mansion in 1457. Shifu occupies almost a quarter of the north side of Hutong, and the name of Hutong has become "Shidaren Hutong" because of Shifu's existence. Less than three years after the mansion was built, Shi Heng was jailed for conspiracy and the mansion was confiscated.
During Jiajing period, Xianning Prefecture gave it to Hou Qiuluan, who built a beautiful garden in Shi Heng Prefecture. During the invasion of the Central Plains by the Mongolian An Sanbu, Qiu Luan, as the commander-in-chief of the anti-enemy, was defeated repeatedly, but he defrauded his fame by lying about his exploits. Soon after, it was revealed that Qiu Luan was dismissed for investigation and the mansion was confiscated again.
Next year, the Ministry of Industry will set up Baoyuan Bureau in Shidaren Hutong, specializing in casting copper coins, which is equivalent to today's mint. Baoyuan Bureau of the Ministry of Industry was established in the former Shi Heng Mansion. After that, it went through the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and it was not until 1905 that the fire of Baoyuan Bureau went out.
At the end of Xuan Tong's reign in Qing Dynasty, in order to welcome the visiting German Crown Prince, the foreign affairs department of Qing Dynasty built a guesthouse on the former site of Baoyuan Bureau. The guesthouse was dedicated to welcoming state guests, equivalent to the current state guesthouse, and was the most luxurious western-style building in Beijing at that time. After the outbreak of the Revolution of 1911, the Qing court began to reform, and Yuan Shikai was appointed as the prime minister of the Qing government. After Yuan Shikai went to Beijing from his hometown in Henan, he set up a cabinet government in Shidaren Hutong Guest House. Soon after, Yuan Shikai came to Beijing with his family and lived with him in a guest house.
19 12 March 10 Yuan Shikai was sworn in as the provisional president of the Republic of China in Beijing, and Shidaren Hutong Guest House became the provisional presidential palace. 1965438+On August 24th, 2002, Sun Yat-sen arrived in Beijing to meet Yuan Shikai. In order to show respect, Yuan Shikai moved to the war department of Tiesi Hutong and used Shidaren Hutong Guest House as a temporary condolence place for Sun Yat-sen.. 191September 18, when Sun Yat-sen left Beijing, Yuan Shikai ordered the Foreign Ministry of Beiyang Government located in Dongtangzi Hutong to be moved to Shidaren Hutong Guest House, and Shidaren Hutong was renamed Foreign Ministry Street.
1928 After the Northern Expeditionary Army captured Beijing, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Beiyang Government merged with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of National Government and moved to Nanjing. The Beiyang Ministry of Foreign Affairs, located in Yangwu Street, was changed to the archives storage office of the old Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 1940, the North China Government Affairs Committee controlled by the Japanese invaders was established in the former site of Foreign Affairs Street, and began to exercise the functions of the North China government during the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression period until 1945, when Japan announced its surrender.
After 1949, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of People's Republic of China (PRC) was established on the former site of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Beiyang Government. Zhou Enlai, the first foreign minister, and Chen Yi, the second foreign minister, worked here. 65438+In the early 1960s, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Building was moved to the north side of Chaoyangmennei Street, and the original site of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Street was changed into a warehouse. Since 1974, rockeries and old buildings in the courtyard have been gradually demolished, and the courtyard has gradually become the staff dormitory of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and World Knowledge Publishing House. All the buildings in the yard were demolished one by one. Up to now, there is only one gray western-style gatehouse that used to be the main entrance of the guesthouse.
Ruiqin Wangfu is the residence of the descendants of Regent Dourgen in the early Qing Dynasty. Dourgen was once one of the eight iron hat kings in the early Qing Dynasty. In the eighth year of Shunzhi, he was deprived of his title and no government because of rebellion. During the Qianlong period, the Dourgen case was rehabilitated. Later generations inherited the title of Prince Rui and gave him a mansion in Shidaren Hutong. Ruiqin Wangfu is large in scale. There used to be as many as 500 houses here, but now all the houses have been destroyed except a section of fence and two stone lions.
The villa of Union Medical College Hospital was built by Rockefeller Foundation of the United States in 19 13 as the residence of foreign teachers of Union Medical College. The buildings are exquisite western-style villas and small foreign buildings. These western-style buildings have been well preserved so far, and in 2003, the villa of Union Hospital became a cultural relic protection unit in Beijing.
