Although ETC is very popular, many car owners may not know the best installation location after getting the ETC equipment. The installation location of ETC is really special. Installation in the wrong location can be awkward or easily block the view. So where is the most suitable location for ETC installation? What are the precautions when using it?

1. Don’t block your view.

Many current car models have windshields with a large rearward inclination, so the space between the windshields is very limited. Therefore, when installing ETC, be sure not to block your line of sight, as this may pose a safety hazard to driving. Therefore, it is recommended that the best installation location is the upper edge of the middle of the glass and behind the rearview mirror, which can effectively reduce the problem of blocking the line of sight. In addition, there are some small black spots on the front windshield, which should be avoided when installing, because these small black spots will cause weak adhesion and block sunlight.

2. Do not delay charging.

ETC is an electronic device and requires power supply. In addition to this, it has a lithium battery inside and a solar panel on the back of the device that can recharge itself. Therefore, when installing ETC equipment, try to avoid the black area on the windshield, and try not to install it in a place where the solar cells are easily blocked.

3. Do not disassemble the equipment easily after installation.

Because once the device is removed, the microswitch resets the device and locks the ETC card, making it unusable. If you want to use it again, you need to reactivate it before you can use it. This is to prevent one card from being used by multiple vehicles. Only one car information is recorded on the ETC device.

Best installation location

1. The height should not be lower than 1.2 meters and not higher than 2.5 meters.

2. The installation angle n should be between 30° and 90° (the angle between the electronic tag surface and the horizontal plane).

3. The installation position of OBU equipment for small vehicles such as cars and vans is in the middle and upper part of the front windshield, and the installation position for large vehicles such as trucks and buses is at the middle and lower part.

4. If the vehicle itself has an explosion-proof membrane or the explosion-proof membrane is installed later, because the explosion-proof membrane contains metal ions, which will affect the signal transmission of the microwave communication link, it should be installed in the "microwave skylight" Bring it, or open a rectangular area of ??8cm x 10cm for the explosion-proof film.

ETC installation method

1. After getting the device, check whether the ETC card and electronic label (OBU) are damaged. Press the anti-tamper button on the back of the electronic tag (OBU), the red light will light up briefly, and the words "tag failure" and "please insert card" will be displayed on the organic light-emitting diode screen, indicating that the device is in good condition.

2. Then clean the windshield and keep the glass surface smooth, clean, dry, and free of debris. Then tear off the electronic label (OBU) and press it firmly with your hands for about three minutes to make it stick.

3. Place the front of the ETC card toward the driver, the back of the card toward the front glass, and insert the chip into the electronic tag (OBU) device.

ETC device activation method

1. First find the ETC Assistant in the mobile application software, download it, register an account with your real name, and then log in. After logging in, you will see an OBU activation and click OBU activation to enter.

2. After entering, you will see the ETC installation instructions and the Bluetooth operation method for starting the ETC device. Insert and remove the ETC card twice in a row until the electronic label screen displays "Bluetooth on". If there is no electronic label (OBU) attached, the label will be invalid after plugging and unplugging twice. This is normal and does not affect activation. Of course, you can also directly press the button on the top of the electronic tag to turn on the Bluetooth function.

3. Then click on the device connection and wait patiently for the prompt "Connection successful". After connecting, follow the prompts to take photos and videos, click Submit, and wait for the ETC staff to review and pass. After passing the review, click Activate on the original review item.

Notes on using ETC

1. Under normal circumstances, the transaction sensing area of ??ETC is about 8 meters. When the vehicle in front is parking, in order to prevent the ETC equipment of the vehicle in front from malfunctioning or having no ETC equipment, it is best to keep a distance of more than 10 meters from the vehicle in front to prevent the vehicle in front from automatically sensing and paying.

2. The ETC lane recognition speed is 20km/h. The speed is too fast and the vehicle equipment information cannot be read, so the deduction fails. Therefore, ETC users should slow down in parallel before entering the toll station, drive vertically into the ETC lane, and control the vehicle speed within 20km/h.

3. After the expressway is on the road at the toll channel, under normal circumstances, the manual toll channel should be used to pay the toll according to regulations. Since the ETC camera cannot recognize the license plate information of the vehicle entering the expressway through the pick-up channel, it will not automatically charge, deduct, and release the vehicle. It will be troublesome to return the vehicle and use the manual payment channel.

4. If you use ETC bound to a debit card, the balance during the period is insufficient and the deduction fails. Therefore, at this time, you can follow the instructions of the toll station staff to guide them to the manual toll lane and use cash or credit card to pass.

5. If the transaction is unsuccessful when swiping the ETC card, or the card is not swiped when getting off the expressway, you must leave the car to the staff for processing, and do not walk away directly. ETC has not detected the next high-speed record, so it is possible to calculate the entire high-speed toll for you. The toll will be deducted the next time you get on the high-speed, which is not worth the gain.
